Sadie’s Socks
Sadie’s Socks are specially designed to show off beautifully handpainted sock-weight yarn. The use of two textured stitch patterns with such a yarn means that no two pairs will be alike. The primary stitch pattern is a slip stitch rib (great fit and “distribution” of handpainted colors). A vertical band in a twist-stitch pattern runs up the outside of each leg, creating a left and right sock.
These socks are knit from the toe up, with short-row toe and heel, for the most efficient use of the yarn. This technique also allows you to try them on as you knit and create a custom fit. For extra sass, “trim” your socks as you choose; we used tassels and antique buttons.
This design is suitable for intermediate knitters with some “sock experience.”
